Safe driving tips at night – Stay away from accidents!

by Sean Dixon

When you drive at night, you have to be much more cautious and careful than driving during the daytime. Although it is true that roads seem more beautiful at night as against the day but they are pretty empty too. Empty roads can at times be more dangerous. The biggest difference between day driving and night driving is visibility.

Our vision gets limited after sunset not only due to the low contrast of color but also due to the glare of headlights that comes from the approaching vehicles. This is why it is even more necessary to drive watchfully to avoid fatal accidents. As per Las Vegas fatal accident lawyers, here are a few tips to take into account.

  • Check your lights

Check your lights and keep cross-checking them to ensure they’re working perfectly. Make sure your brake lights, headlights, and even the fog lights are running fine. They shouldn’t be dirty or fuse as this will obstruct your visibility and you may fail to warn yourself of other oncoming vehicles.

  • Check the windscreen and windows

You have to keep your windscreen and windows clean as this is of huge importance when it comes to seeing the road properly. Use a windscreen washer to clean the windscreen. Also, check whether or not the wipers are working perfectly.

  • Don’t cross the speed limit

It is always necessary to drive slow at night, especially when you’re driving on Indian streets as these streets have pedestrians and cycles which are tough to spot. Keep a healthy distance between your car and the car in front of you if you want to avoid panic stops or any mishap.

  • Check the rear-view mirrors

The latest cars are now armed with rearview mirrors that have different settings for day and night. Thanks to these settings you can alter the angle of the reflective glass which helps you in avoiding glare from the headlights of the vehicles. Apart from the rearview mirrors, you should also check the ORVMs (Outside Rear-View Mirror/Wing Mirror) as they too need to be adjusted in a manner that the high beams of headlights don’t disturb the driver.

So, if you wish to avoid fatal car accidents, you have to make sure you follow the above-listed safe driving tips at night. Try to drive as much as possible in the daytime as that is much better than driving at night.
