Tony Dorsett was an American football running back who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He was a four-time Pro Bowl selection and led the NFL in rushing yards three times. His best season came in 1977 when he rushed for 2,097 yards and scored 21 touchdowns. Dorsett is regarded as one of the greatest running backs in NFL history and is still ranked fourth all-time in career rushing yards.

Dorsett was born on November 7, 1942, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He played college football at Oklahoma State University before being drafted by the Steelers in the first round of the 1965 NFL Draft. Dorsett quickly became a fan favorite with his explosive running style and strong work ethic. He made his debut with Pittsburgh during the 1966 season and went on to play 13 seasons with the team. Dorsett played 12 seasons with the Steelers, amassing over 2,000 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns. In 1988 he was traded to Dallas Cowboys where he would play another six seasons before retiring in 1996. During his career Dorsett won three Super Bowls (XII, XXIII, and XXX), two MVP Awards (1986 and 1990), and was named first-team All-Pro eight times.
