5 New technology batteries that will power the future!

by Glenn Maxwell

Batteries have always played an integral role in human life. They are essential to run any application that requires energy. Over time, humans are not only developing new ways to ease mankind but also they are modifying the technologies that are used in the manufacturing of batteries. With the latest technology, the batteries are not only able to perform their work with greater efficiency but also their shelf life is increasing. Different batteries have been used for different applications. The batteries normally used by people are regular alkaline batteries, carbon-zinc batteries, lead-acid batteries, etc.

Now, various new technologies are being adapted to manufacture batteries that will power the future. With these batteries, you will be able to drive for a long time without being worried about charging the battery again and again.

Here are some new technologies that will change the future batteries.

Nanobolt lithium tungsten batteries

The anode in these batteries is made up of copper. Carbon multi-layered nanotubes and tungsten are added that bond to the copper anode and a web-like structure is built. This process leads to a huge surface formation that can store more charge during the charging and discharging cycle. It makes the recharging of the battery fast and stores more energy. As a result, the efficiency of the battery increases as it can deliver a charge for more time and takes less time in charging again.

String cell batteries

String cell batteries consist of small self-organizing cells that are independent. Each cell consists of a plastic enclosure that is covered with conductive material so that it can bound quickly with others. There is a processing unit inside these batteries that controls the connection in an electrochemical cell. With these batteries, the barrier to using electric vehicles is eliminated as it allows fast charging and the battery can deliver the charge for a long time.

Lithium iron phosphate batteries

LiFePO4 battery also called FLP battery is a  type of lithium-ion battery using graphite carbon electrode as anode and lithium iron phosphate as a cathode. The operating voltage and the energy density of the FLP battery are lower compared to other lithium-ion batteries. These batteries have a very flat charge and discharge profile and offer many advantages over lead-acid batteries. These batteries are not the cheapest ones but due to their remarkable characteristics, these batteries are worthy of investment. The use of these batteries is increasing day by day due to their remarkable characteristics.

Zinc-manganese oxide batteries

These batteries utilize alkaline electrolytes. Because of their high energy density, these batteries are used in grid-scale energy storage. Scientists have found that some unexpected chemical reactions are taking place inside zinc-manganese oxide batteries, if these chemical reactions can be controlled then the energy density can be increased without any cost.

Start-stop battery

Nowadays, most of the cars running on roads are automatic ones. In these cars, a specially modified lead-acid battery called a start-stop battery is introduced.  This battery works on the latest technology and can only be used with automatic cars. The purpose of this battery is to start and stop the engine automatically where it is needed. When the car stops for the green signal, it turns off the engine automatically and saves fuel consumption. When the brake or clutch is pushed, it starts the engine itself. These batteries provide a higher cycle rate as compared to other batteries. This special technology is now being used by many big companies to save both fuel consumption and minimize the emission of harmful gasses as a result of the burning of fuel.

The solution to the various problems is on the horizon and it will soon change the future.
