Brock Purdy was born on October 7, 1995 in Santa Clarita, California. He attended Canyon High School where he played football and graduated in 2014. After graduation, Purdy went on to play football for the Wyoming Cowboys of the NCAA Division I FCS. In his senior year, he was named First Team All-Wyoming and helped lead the Cowboys to a 10-3 record and their first appearance in the FCS playoffs.
Purdy entered the NFL draft in January of 2017 and was selected by the San Francisco 49ers with the 189th overall pick. In his junior year, he transferred to the University of Utah. As a senior at Utah, he started all 13 games and was named first-team All-Pac-12.
Purdy was selected by the San Francisco 49ers with the 114th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He made his NFL debut on September 10, 2016 against the Indianapolis Colts and recorded four tackles.
