Michael John Myers (born August 17, 1960) is a Canadian-American actor, comedian and writer. He first achieved prominence in the early 1980s as the character Dr. Scott Quimby on the NBC sitcom The New Dick Van Dyke Show, which led to his breakout role as Austin Powers in the Spy spoof film series (1996-2002). Myers has since appeared in several comedy films and television series, most notably Wayne’s World (1992), Wayne’s World 2 (1997), Bad Santa (2003), and The Lorax (2012). In 2010 he made his directorial debut with the horror comedy film My Friends My Enemies.
Myers was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Catherine Jelinek (née Proznar) and Donald William Myers. He has two sisters: one older, Louise Myers (who works as an advertising executive), and one younger, Donna Myers.
