Internet Explorer 11 Has Stopped Working Windows 7 64 Bit – What Now?

When Windows 10 launched, one of the amazing features that it had was the Microsoft Edge Browser. This built-in product offered an amazing capability and ensured that you can browse without challenge. However, if you are stuck in the past and still want to use an internet explorer that was a key feature in Windows 7 and below, the choice is fully yours. 

If you are getting errors that your Internet Explorer has stopped working, crashed, or froze, then various reasons could lead to this. If you are using Microsoft 365, you can access Microsoft 365 product key for Windows 7 and ensure that your operating system is activated.

Reasons That Can Make Internet Explorer to Stop Working

One of the reasons for this is that there may be a third-party “dll” file that is causing conflict with the ieexplorer.exe. Also, it could be that your  Internet Explorer could be getting loads of unnecessary toolbars, extensions, add-ons, and BHO’s, just to name a few. Moreover, certain settings in Internet Explorer may cause this.

Internet Explorer 11 Windows 7 stopped working? Here is how to fix it

There are several techniques that you can employ to ensure that these errors are fixed and among them include:

1. Start by Resetting your Internet Explorer.

This method is easy and fixes the problem quickly in most cases. All you have to do is click to open the  Internet Explorer, click on the  Tools menu, Go to the Internet Options, then the  Advanced Tab. Then click on the Reset Button. While here, you will see a button with the name “Delete Personal Settings“. Click on the reset button that is inside there.

2. Use the reset button that is inside the “Delete Personal Settings”.

If you are not able to do a reset of your IE through the above method, this second method should help. You can follow these simple steps:

  • Go to the start menu
  • Then to control pane
  • Click on network and internet
  • Then click on internet options
  • A configuration window will appear
  • Go to the advanced tab
  • Click the reset button, which is inside the Delete Personal Settings

3. Disable Software Rendering or Update Graphics Driver

At times, these issues may be caused by graphics rendering, so if you try to update the drivers for graphics, you can solve the problems that you are facing. Moreover, this issue may be solved when you disable the hardware acceleration option which is a feature in Internet Explorer 9 and 10 respectively.

4. Update Graphics Driver or Disable Software Rendering.

Sometimes graphics rendering causes this issue, so either try to update your graphics card driver or try to disable the Hardware Acceleration option in IE 9 & IE 10. To update the drivers, you can follow these simple steps:

  • Click on the Internet Explorer Tab to open it.
  • Go to the Tools menu.
  • Go to internet options, and a configuration tab will appear.
  • Go to the advanced tab
  • Uncheck the option-use software rendering instead of GPU rendering

5. Uninstall Unwanted Toolbars.

In some instances, this issue may be caused by third-party toolbars, so it’s better if you can remove third-party toolbars that are available, and avoid installing them completely. This is how you can do it:

  • Go to the control panel tab.
  • Use the control panel to remove unwanted toolbars.
  • Clicks add/remove programs on the Control panel and uninstall the toolbars that are shown on the list.
