Washington: The experts from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation and Cybersecurity believe that Chinese hackers are trying to steal research on developing vaccine against corona virus infection. It was reported by two newspapers on Monday, May 11th, 2020.
The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security are planning to release a warning about this effort of the Chinese hackers to hack the details of COVID -19 vaccine. The government and the private firms in the US are racing to try to develop a vaccine for COVID-19 virus infection. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.
These Chinese hackers are also targeting information and other intellectual properties on treatment and testing for Coronavirus infection.
The US officials alleged that these hackers are somehow linked with the Chinese government. It is as per the statement given by the reports.
The official warning is expected to be issued within next few days.
“We are leading the world in COVID-19 treatment and vaccine research. It is immoral to target China with rumours and slanders in the absence of any evidence.” Zhao said.
President Donald trump did not confirm anything when he was asked about the report. But he said.” What else is new about China? What else is new? Tell me, I am not happy with China”.
He added, “We are watching it very closely.”
A US warning would add to a series of alerts and reports. It accuses about the government sponsored hackers in Iran, North Korea, Russia, and China of malicious activities. These activities are related to this deadly global pandemic. It ranges from pumping out false news to targeting scientists and workers.
The New York Times said that it could be a prelude to an officially sanctioned counterattacks by US agencies, that is involved in cyber warfare. It includes the Cyber command from Pentagon and the national Security Agency.
Britain and the US warned of a rise in cyber attacks in a joint message in the last week. This attack is against the health professionals involved in the response to corona virus outbreak. This attack is by professional criminals, who are often linked with other state actors.
The National Cyber Security Centre of Britain and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency of US said that they had detected large scale password spraying tactics. Hackers are trying to access accounts through commonly used passwords. These are aimed at healthcare bodies and medical research organizations.
