WHO claims that 80,000 COVID-19 cases were reported every day across the world, in the month of April 2020

New Delhi: India recorded a very grim figure of COVID-19 infected persons on Wednesday, May 6th, 2020. It went past the 50,000 mark overall and recorded more than 3,000 reported corona virus cases, in a single day for the first time in the country.

India recorded 3,619 new cases on Wednesday, May 6th, 2020. It was the largest number of reported new corona virus case in a single day, since the outbreak of the Pandemic. This made the total number of corona virus positive cases rise to 52,952 in the entire country.

It was indeed alarming to note that this country witnessed a five days journey to cover the distance from the 30,000 mark to the 40,000 mark of corona virus positive cases, but it took only three days to add the next 10,000 corona virus positive cases to the tally. It was only on May 3rd this year that India topped 40,000 corona virus positive cases. The country saw the breaching of 30,000 corona virus cases on April 28th, 2020.

The Health Ministry of India Government reported that 1,783 people have died with corona virus infection so far in India.

WHO noted that South Asian nations like India and Bangladesh are seeing a spike in the infection while the number is declining in regions such as Western Europe.

Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Wednesday that the countries must be able to manage any risk of this disease being imported into their territories. The communities must be fully educated to adjust to what will be a new norm.
